Syria: Religious leaders of Syria thank Russia for military action....Syria's Assad flies to Moscow to thank Russia's Putin for air strikes

The representatives of the religious communities of Syria thanked Russia for the participation in the country’s conflict during a meeting in Damascus on Sunday. 
The meeting was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Kinschak, the Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun and Syrian Minister of Awqaf Abdul Sattar al-Sayed.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad flew to Moscow on Tuesday evening to personally thank Russia's Vladimir Putin for his military support, in a surprise visit that underlined how Russia has become a major player in the Middle East.
