Μεγάλες ιδιωτικές τηλεπικοινωνιακές εταιρείες παρείχαν στις βρετανικές μυστικές υπηρεσίες πολύ μεγαλύτερη βοήθεια σε ό,τι αφορά την παρακολούθηση των χρηστών του Διαδικτύου, από ότι ήταν γνωστό μέχρι σήμερα....
Ορισμένες από αυτές κατήρτιζαν γι΄αυτό το σκοπό συγκεκριμένα προγράμματα συλλογής πληροφοριών, αποκαλύπτουν σήμερα Παρασκευή τα γερμανικά έντυπα NDR και Sueddeutsche Zeitung επικαλούμενα νέα έγγραφα, τα οποία παρουσίασε ο Έντουαρντ Σνόουντεν.
Οι εταιρείες αυτές είναι οι ακόλουθες: British Telecom, Verizon, Vodafone, Level 3, Global Crossing, Interoute και Viatel, οι οποίες ελέγχουν σημαντικό μέρος της παγκόσμιας διαδικτυακής υποδομής.
German magazine Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported about previously secret PowerPoint slides, showed what the British intelligence agency GCHQ can do: install Trojans, misinformation, attack on networks.

Moreover, it revealed how the service has lost all sense of proportion - and that private Internet providers assist in spying on you.
Large private telecommunication companies facilitated UK secret services’ surveillance of Internet users to a much greater extent than it was believed before.
Some of them even worked on spying software, reports NDR and Sueddeutsche Zeitung citing new documents revealed by Snowden.
According to the mass media, the Government Communications Headquarters responsible for electronic intelligence cooperated actively in collecting data with at least seven large private companies.
One of the Powerpoint presentations dated 2009 and intended only for employees mention following telecommunication companies: British Telecom, Verizon, Vodafone, Level 3, Global Crossing (currently owned by Level 3), Interoute и Viatel which NDR and Sueddeutsche Zeitung calls a GCHQ key partner.
These companies are one of the largest telecommunications services companies in the world and own most of the Internet infrastructure (undersea fiber optic cables, electronic communications networks, computer centers).
With the help of these companies British intelligence was able to collect data on Internet users in Germany, NDR and Sueddeutsche Zeitung cite the documents which Edward Snowden sent them.
