Katie Barnett told Columbus TV station WBNS she came home from two weeks away to find her locks changed and her home empty.
She had to crawl through a window to get in.
Barnett called police and found out that the repo man had apparently made a mistake, and was supposed to clear out the foreclosed home across the street.
Some of the items in her house had been hauled away. Others were sold, given away or trashed.
“We had a seven-piece patio set out here,” Barnett told WBNS while standing in her backyard. “All of that’s gone.”
She’s asked the bank to pay her $18,000 for her losses, but the bank president refuses.
He told WBNS they’re trying to reach some kind of settlement.
This sounds familiar, I’ve heard of banks selling off safety deposit boxes and not paying to replace the stuff.
