The first piece of viral marketing has kicked off for Bryan Singer's X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST in this new "promo" video for Trask Industries, which focuses on how they're keeping you "safe" for the future...by having creepy Sentinals watch over you at the beach.
It's a cool nod and fits squarely within that post-credits sequence in THE WOLVERINE, leading us directly into the time-spanning X-Men tale that awaits next year. No sign of any X-Men in the clip, nor of Peter Dinklage's Bolivar Trask, but some Sentinal teases are present, which makes this feel almost like a viral for THE TERMINATOR. Cool stuff.
Do you feel safe from the mutant threat?:
We've seen some posters and a full head display of the Sentinal heads at Comic Con this year, as well as a trailer for the upcoming 7th entry in the X-franchise (including THE WOLVERINE films) and everything is shaping up to be a positive for the ambitious and epic-scale pic. As someone who was on the fence when they were assembling this massive undertaking, the trailer at SDCC left me giddy with excitement. Let's hope Singer can pull this off.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST kicks off on May 23, 2014.
The Sentinel ProgramIn 1973, Trask Industries introduced the first Sentinel production model, the Mark I. Bolivar Trask’s groundbreaking research in AI, robotics and autonomous ballistic systems laid the foundation for the world's most capable anti-mutant defense system. Since the program's inception, we’ve continued to advance our founder's cause through eight additional generational upgrades and enhancements. As we celebrate five decades of achievement, we also bid farewell to regular production of the Mark I and shift our efforts to full-time manufacturing of the Mark X — our first complete overhaul of the Sentinel line. These highly anticipated units will combine next-generation nanotechnology and bioweapon breakthroughs, promising an even brighter future for the human race.
